What a wonderful week at the Affordable Art Fair Melbourne, and a memorable first for VAS! Affordable Art Fair Australia

It was a pleasure to bring the work of our artists to a new audience, and even more special to see so many artworks find their way into loving, new homes.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by. It was so lovely to see so many familiar faces.

A special week indeed!!

Until next time,
The VAS Team 🫶🏼

What a wonderful evening at VAS on Friday! The galleries were filled with love for Anne Scott Pendlebury on her 80th birthday, as family, VAS members and friends from St Peter’s Church gathered for a surprise celebration.

Anne is a true fixture of the Society: she grew up at VAS, where her parents were exhibiting members and her father served as President during her childhood. She returned over twenty years ago as a volunteer, served on the VAS Council, and continues to maintain our archives and attend every event to lend a hand.

Friday evening had lovely words from VAS Council member Rosemary Noble, tears of joy as we gifted Anne a holiday to which so many friends had contributed, and much merriment all round. The 50th solo exhibition of Gregory Smith provided the perfect setting for this special night.

Happy birthday, Anne! ❤️

Special thanks to our judge, Isabelle Chouinard, for her thoughtful selections from such an outstanding field of entries.

Come see the exhibition until August 30!

VAS is honoured to welcome back Gregory R. Smith for his 50th annual exhibition, Time Leaves Its Mark.

Spanning the upper galleries, this extraordinary body of work was painted entirely direct from life over the past twelve months, a rare feat of discipline and observation.

Join us for the opening on Saturday from 2pm, or visit any day until August 31. A smaller selection continues in the Cato Gallery until September 6.

Even more of Gregory’s work will be on show with VAS at the Affordable Art Fair Melbourne. Find us at Stand C6.
