I am often asked, 'What is the difference between Relaxation and Remedial Massage? What about Deep Tissue? And, what style do I recommend?'
Each style has its own merits:
Relaxation helps to soothe and calm tired muscles and nerves, bringing the body to a relaxed state. It can lower cortisol in the body and help ease minor aches and pains. Improved blood flow and circulation help stimulate muscle repair. Relaxation uses a lighter pressure than most other styles, especially for facial treatments. I recommend Relaxation when people just want to rest, relax, and switch off.
Deep Tissue is similar to relaxation, yet gets in deeper, treating both tendons and ligament tightness. Use of kneading techniques, known as Petrissage, help loosen and undo knots within the muscles. Great for muscle recovery after a work out, athletic recovery, and for minor sprains and strains. I recommend this for sports players, workers in jobs requiring heavy lifting or are physically demanding, or for those who like a firmer and more focused pressure.
And Remedial. Remedial treatments seek to find the cause of an issue. Examples include sciatic pain, stiff neck and shoulders, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and medial epicondylitis (Golfer's elbow), glute and lower back issues, tight hamstrings, knee pain and calf aches, sprains and strains. Often focusing on one area, treatment can include intense deep tissue focus, stretching and resistance movements, range of motion testing, and even dry needling, cupping, and joint loosening techniques. I recommend this to those with Chronic ongoing pain that has lasted 1 week or more.
*Remedial treatment is also claimable by private health insurance, and rebates are dependent on the level of cover and any bonuses your health care fund may offer. Claims can be done online.
Thanks for reading, and as always, happy to answer any questions you may have via Messenger, phone, or email.
Kind Regards
