Our awards spotlight the outstanding contributions by researchers and leaders in the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing research.

The categories open for nominations are:

These awards showcase research that is culturally, ethically, and intellectually rigorous and for the benefit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

Are you an Indigenous researcher or working on an Indigenous health and wellbeing research project?

We welcome abstract submissions from individuals, communities, and organisations working locally and globally with, by, and for Indigenous peoples in the health and wellbeing sector, to present at our conference in June 2027.

Our conference theme, 'Time, Place, Spirit: Living our Legacy', is embedded throughout our program, and we invite critical discussions about issues that impact Indigenous peoples' health and wellbeing.

We encourage presentations led by Indigenous peoples that demonstrate Indigenous leadership, have a strengths-based approach, and contribute to the improvement of the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples.

International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples honours the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Indigenous Peoples around the world.

This year’s theme is Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Wellbeing.

Through our Major Grants Program, we’re proud to support projects that strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, including Waminda’s Mob caring for Mob project.

Their project will establish pathways for Aboriginal women to pursue midwifery and support the expansion of Birthing on Country services. By identifying and addressing barriers to midwifery education, this initiative aims to strengthen the Aboriginal maternity workforce and improve culturally safe care for mothers and babies.
