Meet Kat and Brett, two TAFE Queensland plumbing teachers helping the next generation of tradies build their skills at Caboolture. π π§
With TAFE Queenslandβs trade training delivery expanding into the Moreton Bay region, a recent Certificate II in Plumbing Services (11054NAT) intake has already delivered a fantastic outcome, with several students securing apprenticeships after completing their training.
For TAFE Queensland plumbing teacher Kat Worth, seeing students make that transition from training into an apprenticeship is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
βItβs been really great to see these students come through the Certificate II course and then take that next step into apprenticeships,β said Kat.
βFor many students, the pre-apprenticeship course is their first real introduction to the trade. It gives them a chance to get into the workshop, learn basic skills, use the tools, understand workplace expectations and, most importantly, work out whether plumbing is a career they want to pursue.
βAs trainers, we get to see their confidence grow throughout the course. It also shows future employers they can commit to something, turn up, learn new skills, meet expectations and see something through to completion. Those are qualities that employers look for in any industry.β (RTO 0275)
