The Legend of the Frikandel: Reimagined! π³π±β¨π
Forget everything you think you know about late-night snack bar food. Our frikandellen are a bit different - and much more refined.
While the historical ones come with a lot of mystery, ours are crafted with prime quality pork and beef, blended with a precise mix of premium spices. You wonβt find any fillers, binders, breadcrumbs, and certainly no horsemeat or mystery floor meat here. Just pure, elevated flavour. π―
But how did this Dutch icon start out? It all began with a clever loophole...
1954: The Meatball Loophole π§β‘οΈπ
The story begins in Dordrecht with a butcher named Gerrit de Vries. He was successfully selling delicious meatballs, but a sudden change in Dutch laws meant his recipe legally contained too much flour to be called a "meatball." Instead of changing his recipe, Gerrit simply rolled the meat into a long sausage shape. A German customer suggested the name fricadelle, and a legend was born.
1958: The Industrial Shift ππ§ͺ
A few years later, mass manufacturers took the creation and turned it into a skinless, factory-made snack. For decades, urban legends loved to whisper about "mysterious sweepings from the butcher's floor." While the industrial truth is a heavily regulated mix of mechanically separated meat and fillers.
The Birth of the "Speciaal" π§
β¨
Whether you like it old-school or premium, the ultimate way to eat it remains the same: sliced wide open and stuffed with mayonnaise, curry ketchup, and finely chopped raw onions.
The legendary Frikandel Speciaal!
Weβve taken a national treasure and given it the high-quality upgrade it deserves. We also pop a little bit of green on top too (controversial we know).
How do you have yours?

Small Business vs. Mega Banks: Letβs level the playing field. βοΈπ
While the big banks continue to rake in record-breaking profits, local small businesses are fighting harder than ever just to keep their doors open.
Now, with new regulations forcing small businesses to absorb 100% of card processing fees, that gap is only going to get wider. Merchant fees might look small on a single receipt, but they add up to thousands of dollars a year that leave your community and go straight into the pockets of massive financial institutions.
We have a plan to fight back, and we need your help. π€
Starting today, if you choose to pay with cash instead of a card, we will discount your bill by 5%.
β’ How it helps you: You keep cash in your pocket during a tight economy.
β’ How it helps us: It completely bypasses the credit card networks, meaning we don't pay predatory surcharges.
Itβs a win-win. More power to consumers, more support for independent shops, and less money lining the pockets of the super-wealthy banking sector.
Next time you visit, consider swinging by the ATM first. Letβs keep independent businesses alive! πͺβ¨

From French royal treat to an iconic food of the Dutch street!
Think that the Kroket is 100% Dutch? Think again! This crispy creamy snack actually started it's life as a luxury food for French royalty with the firstwritten recipe appearing in 1691 by the chef of the French King Louis XIV.
The name comes from the French word croquer which means 'to crunch'.
It made its way to the Netherlands in the early 1830s as a fancy side dish. Almost 200 years later and it is now a staple of Dutch street food culture.
Today, the Dutch eat roughly 300 million of these per year, thats around 25 per person...
