We put Dr Adelle in the hot seat at the Fullarton Market. 🎤

Turns out, putting Dr Adelle on the spot with a round of chiropractic THIS OR THAT is excellent entertainment. 😂

Hello 👋 We’re The Chiro Crew ✨

An enthusiastic bunch of humans who really love chiropractic, learning more about the body and helping people understand themselves better.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to reintroduce you to the people who are part of the crew, share a bit about what each of us love about chiropractic, why we do what we do and what gets us excited about your care!

Fresh photos and a few things you might not have known about us 💁‍♀️

Alright 🥁 Any guesses who’s up first?

We loooove to be curious about how people move, feel and function ✨ Here are a few things we wish everyone knew about their bodies ➡️

Your body is constantly adapting to how you move, how you think, what you touch and what life throws at you. Your body isn’t static, it’s responding and adapting all the time. 🍃

Posture is one piece of information that shows how your body is organising itself at that moment. We’re less interested in “perfect posture” and more interested in why your body has chosen to express that way!

Pain matters and we absolutely listen to it. Pain and tissue damage aren’t always neatly matched, which is why we look at more than just “does it hurt?”

Walking around the block counts. Playing on the floor counts. Taking the stairs counts. Your body likes opportunities to move, it doesn’t have to be a marathon. 🙌

A little more movement. A different way of sitting. Better sleep. A change in how your body is moving. Health doesn’t always require a dramatic overhaul.

You move. Adapt. Compensate. Learn. Change. The more we understand about them, the more questions we seem to have.
Which, quite frankly, is why we love our job.🥰

Maybe the little things we do on repeat matter more than we realise.

Changing into trackies after work.
Putting your shoes on for a morning walk.
Making a coffee before you sit down to start the day.

Over time, these little rituals can become cues. Our brains are very good at learning patterns and using information from our bodies and environment to help work out what happens next. 🧠

And we talk about this a lot in the chiropractic world. There’s a growing body of research looking at what happens in the nervous system following a chiropractic adjustment including changes in sensory processing and sensorimotor integration.

Which is fascinating to us because an adjustment isn’t happening just on a spinal level.

Your nervous system is constantly receiving information from your body and your brain is constantly making sense of it all, learning and adapting as you go.

So today’s practice conversation started with trackies… and somehow ended up with neuroscience. 😂

What’s your ritual that lets your brain know it’s time to shift gears?

Your nervous system and immune system are in constant conversation 🧠🦠 And researchers are pretty interested in that relationship including whether chiropractic care might influence some of the physiological processes involved.

Which we think is a pretty fascinating question. 🙋‍♀️

One study looked at secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA) before and after upper cervical chiropractic care specifically.

SIgA is a bit like your body’s security bouncer. It hangs out in places like your saliva and your airways helping to form part of your first line of immune defence.

Interestingly, researchers found SIgA levels were significantly higher 30 minutes after a chiropractic adjustment compared with before, before returning towards baseline at the two-week follow-up.

Now, does this study mean chiropractic prevents colds or “boosts” your immune system? It is not telling us that. This was an observational study without a control group, so there’s plenty more research to be done (and there has been more research in this space - we just thought this was an interesting one to share today!).

What we DO know is that the nervous system and immune system are deeply interconnected. They constantly communicate and influence the way our bodies respond.

And understanding where chiropractic might fit into that conversation?

That’s the interesting bit. 👀

Especially while a lot of people seem to be coughing and spluttering their way through August. 🤧😂
