Just an ordinary woman searching for an ordinary lifeโ€ฆ
until the wrong love and ignored red flags turned her world upside down. Now turning pain into purpose.

Raising awareness. Helping others. Silence enables violence. Our voices are our superpower. When you are a victim of Domestic Violence, poverty is one of the greatest issues victims struggle to overcome. If they have young children it can be extremely difficult to navigate the workforce and care for children. Government benefits still keep a victim on the poverty line with housing, food, clothing

It's so hard being Gluten Free Intolerant in a Non Gluten Free Intolerant World. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒพ

Most days I am very good and I adjust my diet accordingly.

But then there is that absent-minded slip... and I sure suffer for it.

But nothing says Love and Devotion more than this man. โค๏ธ

Cleaning up my projectile vomit that didn't make it to the kitchen sink at 6:00 am this morning... ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿซฃ

He said he gagged for 10 minutes doing it! ๐Ÿ˜‚ But he knew I was unwell and just wanted to help.

Now THAT, ladies, is true love. โค๏ธ

Forget flowers.

Forget chocolates.

Find yourself a man who's willing to clean up your vomit at 6:00 am without filing for divorce. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I think I'll keep him. ๐Ÿฅฐโค๏ธ

Actually I decided to keep him a long time ago.

He's stood beside me through some of the hardest years of my life.

Through illness, trauma, parenting challenges, advocacy, tears, laughter... and apparently now projectile vomit too. ๐Ÿ˜…

Good men really are out there.

We need to recognise them more often.

We need to acknowledge that they struggle with their mental health too.

We need to ask if they're okay.

And we need to remind them that it's okay to speak out, ask for help and lean on the people who love them.

Because behind many strong women... is often a good man quietly carrying more than the world ever sees. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’” When A Father Dies By Su***de... The Pain Doesn't End With Him.

This story has absolutely broken my heart. Like so many that are currently happening through out all of Australia.

A beautiful 12-year-old little girl, Alisha Rush, a beloved member of the Southlakes Roosters rugby league club, where her sudden passing has left teammates and local sports clubs heartbroken. She was known not only for her bright smile and kind nature, but also for her exceptional talent on the field, having spent pre-season training with the Under 12s and 14s squads, where coaches and teammates spoke so highly of her dedication and spirit.

A little girl who, according to her family, had been deeply struggling since losing her father to su***de just one year earlier.

They have shared that she missed him terribly and wanted to be with him.

Alisha had been receiving mental health treatment and was days away from further medical support at the time of her death.

Stories like Alisha Rush, and her Father's highlight just how complex both child mental health and male adult mental health truly are โ€” and how urgently both need greater government care, investment, and attention.

This is why I will never stop advocating for male mental health.

When Australia loses a father to su***de, we don't just lose one life.

We leave behind children carrying grief that no child should ever have to carry.

We leave behind birthdays with an empty chair.

School concerts with no Dad in the audience.

First jobs.

Graduations.

Weddings.

Grandchildren he'll never meet.

The trauma of su***de doesn't stop with the person who dies.

It echoes through families. Through children. Through generations.

We often talk about Men as a statistic.

But they are Fathers.

They are Sons.

They are Husbands.

They are Brothers.

And they are loved more than they often realise.

If we truly want to protect our children, then we must also protect the fathers who are silently fighting battles they feel they cannot speak about

While also ensuring children like Alisha Rush receive the mental health support they desperately need.

Saving a father's life may save far more than one life.

Today my heart is with Alisha Rushs Mother, Siblings , Family, Friends ,Community and with every child who has lost a parent to su***de.

Mental Health and Su***de is a tragic epidemics that is sending ripple effects through families and generations ๐Ÿ’œ

I live with a complexity of Mental Heath Condtions after surviving through Domestic Violence, Family Court and becoming aware of Childhood Trauma Wounds later in life.

Some days, even weeks are just horrible , but there are two things that always keep me going and push to always see the light.

And that's my children and my pets.

I love Animals and would frankly choose to spend my days with them over civilisation any day ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒ

Budgies are such amazing little birds. Each one has such a unique personality and the more time you spend with them, the more you will build a individualised relationship with them as well.

Do you have a special budgie, bird or pet in your life? That keeps you going?

I would love to meet them ๐Ÿ™Œ โค๏ธ Share In Comments

Into the 5th year now with my Mum's Vascular Dementia.

Every day is unique.

Some days she is completely shut down.

Other days she is bright, engaged, and we can enjoy some really lovely conversations.

One thing that has never left Mum is her tenacity and incredibly strong will.

If she doesn't trust someone, or simply doesn't want to do something, she will refuse. That's just who she is.

Over the years we've had many challenges. At times Mum has become physically aggressive towards care staff when she has felt pushed too hard.

Because of that, there are days when she goes without showering or having her hair properly cared for.

Recently I noticed she was starting to develop cradle cap on her scalp.

Today was one of the good days.

She happily agreed to let me gently massage some oil into her scalp and give her a little hait trim.

She sat there relaxed, smiling, commenting om my hairdressing skills ๐Ÿคฃโœ‚๏ธand when we finished she said, "My head feels much lighter."

It's such a small thing to many people.

But when you're living alongside dementia, you learn that the smallest moments often become the biggest victories. ๐Ÿ’œ

I love the days when I visit my mum and I see that once so familar sparkle in her and cheeky smile. It fills my cup and helps me know she is still with me on this crazy ride in life.
